Historical Museum Mile at Schlossplatz
Saarbrücken’s Schlossplatz is literally surrounded by art and culture. Over the course of recent years, four historical museums moved here with their collections covering history from the earliest times well into the 20th century. The former seat of the district administration (Kreisständehaus) in front of the castle houses the Museum of Pre- and Protohistory. Here, you can explore the earliest evidence of human life, dating back to the stone ages and the bronze and iron ages, through to the Roman Empire and well into the Middle Ages. A highlight of the collection is the famous tomb of the Celtic countess of Reinheim with all its golden burial offerings.
